David Hughes Design
I’m a freelance designer based on the outskirts of Birmingham. I work remotely from my home studio with like-minded clients and for creative agencies in London and Birmingham.
I’ve worked as an in-house designer at large and small creative agencies for over 8 years and as a freelance designer for more than 3 years. I'm happy to work alongside an in-house team or take responsibility for entire projects.
In an effort to create the perfect work/life balance I work from my home studio on the outskirts of Birmingham.
I'm a multi-disciplined graphic designer with over 10 years experience of in-house and freelance roles. I’ve worked on projects for a wide variety of business types including high street retailers, blue chip companies, government/local authorities, universities/colleges as well as a diverse range of smaller companies and start-ups.
By day I design bespoke creative visuals for websites and apps. I also provide illustrations and custom lettering for use in infographics, online, in advertising and for vector icon sets. Many projects I work on also require the development of branding and related assets including brand guidelines.
I can provide skills as a frontend developer with an emphasis on responsive web design. I’m used to working with modern frameworks including bootstrap and foundation and can convert static sites to bespoke WordPress themes.
I currently work with London and Birmingham based creative agencies on a regular basis. I contribute specialist expertise when needed and a reliable pair of hands during busy periods. I also work directly with clients and partner with other creatives across the UK.
Why work with a freelancer?
Working with a freelancer can give you instant access to specific expertise (that you haven’t had to pay to develop). Great for agencies that have won lots of new contracts or businesses and individuals that want to work directly with a designer.
Who do I work with?
The majority of my work is created in collaboration with incredibly talented and friendly creative agencies. I also take on direct work - ideal for businesses or individuals that desire agency quality output but haven’t got a suitable budget. I’ve also got a great network of skilled friends who I’m happy to recommend.
Where do I work?
In an effort to spend more time with my young daughter and wife I made the descision to leave a full time role and persue a freelance career. Over the past few years I've built up working relationships with some incredible people and businesses all from the comfort of my home studio. Working with agencies and for direct clients means I get to work on projects for international brands, SME's, start-ups and inspiring individuals.
